How much did you put on him? You must have done alright as he was far from favourite for the race and you has the inside track

Re: Nico Rosberg
Are you deliberately being a twerp, where did I say he was crap?

He is a four time world champion so he must be a top rank GP driver.

Nearly as good as Ricciardo too last season. Vettell certainly has the number two Ferrari driver in his pocket just like Alonzo did last year.

What is the don't grass me up comment for?

Re: Nico Rosberg
Joe C - from the bbc - The four-time champion caused a SHOCK by holding off Mercedes to secure his team's first win in almost two years.

You must have cleaned up at the bookies as even they didn't know he would the race. How much did you have on him?

Re: Nico Rosberg
Vettell is a brilliant driver. Last season he was the perfect Red Bull number two behind Ricciardo.

Nobody is taking any credit away from him. What you said was just plain wrong

Always an excuse to take any credit away from vettell

Re: Nico Rosberg
Other than it being the best car for that circuit because of a number of factors, the most significant being the tyre wear, as all the leading teams and drivers have said you mean you odious cretin?

One of the least liked men in F1

Is Hamilton

It was odd to see vettel win in not the best car, again. Apparently he is shit.

Not a big surprise that a German child who is a multimillionaire is throwing his dummy out.
He is obviously very talented, but most competitive sports people are notoriously greedy selfish arrogant and thoughtless Lewis is probably similar in Character.

Sportsmanship these days is a value hard to find.

He did drive out of his skin that season.

Re: Nico Rosberg
Yes- very poor choices. I do hope he gets one more tilt with a car that can compete before he retires.

That said, he almost won the title in a piece of shit Ferrari against the Red Bulls. Would have been one of the greatest ever champions for that.

Re: Nico Rosberg
ES/Russ,

I like Alonso as a driver, I would agree that his skills as a driver alone he edges Vettel. I like his aggressiveness much like I admire Hamilton for his. Vettel, I would argue, helps his engineers a lot more (as does Lewis I am told) but isn't anywhere near as good overall as Alonso or Hamilton at having to make his way through the field. I think Ferrari saw with Alonso a river that was coming towards the end of his career and perhaps didn't have the same passion as he did a few years before. Good driver but by god has he made an awful decision.

Well, if you have inside info, then I cede to it. I can only go by what's written in the media and that sport is probably more smoke and mirrors and subterfuge than any other.

All I'd say is that I personally think Alonso is twice the driver Vettel is, and is far more deserving of a winning car! I hope McLaren get it together sooner or later.

Fair do's mate.

I am not saying Alonso wasn't at fault in some querters. I just feel that the Ferarri PR monster went into overtime and made him a scapegoat for alot of it's faults.

Too many changes at the top, too many power struggles, lack of developments, delay's in upgrades, engineer's blaming him for lack of performance.

There were alot of issues at Ferrari that Alonso had no influence over and couldn't be blamed for. But, I fully accept what you say about his personality. Obviously you are more in the know throigh your brother so I take your word for it.

Trevor B 5:39 Mon Apr 13
Re: Nico Rosberg
Russ sorry don't agree, Alonso's PR has been superb at distancing him from being the main cause of problems during his time at Ferrari. My brother used to drive team lorries for McLaren a few years back and is still close to a lot of people in F1, the general perception of Alonso is that he is a dick who throws his toys out of the pram privately when things don't go his way. he is very good at putting on a public face but he was generally disliked throughout Ferrari.

Re: Nico Rosberg
ES

As I said, he wanted to extend his deal, Ferrari didn't want to for the reason i said therefore they decided to cancel the final season of his contract so he could get the longer term deal he wanted elsewhere. he wanted to stay, they wouldn't give him what he wanted, and after falling out with various people in house it was thought best to let him go.

I wouldn't lean too much on the Pat Fry stuff. He never liked Alonso from the start and there was an immeidate problem with a character clash.

Alonso would've won the title in 2010 had Dyer not royally fucked up his calculations. The odds for him to win were very good and it only require him to finish 5th but due to a pit stop fuck up he came 7th.

I don't recall Fry mentioning Alonso wasn't putting the graft in but I know he alluded to Alonso's performance being below par and wasn't allowing them to get the 'in-race' testing they wanted. Alonso went mad and was actually defended by Ferrari. Alonso commented at the time he was still waiting for a new aero-dynamic set up that was promised in a few weeks into the season which hadn't turned up. Fry was responsible for that. He was then let go at the end of 2014 anyway as he wasn't doing what was expected of him. So i don;t see how can be critical of Alonso anyway.

Ferrari are to political. They had a big power struggle when Alonso was there and got a new chairman in who, apparently, was brought in to move Alonso on anyway. Then all the shit came out about Alonso making unreasonable demands. But he said all along he is only asking for what was promised. He always said Ferrari comes before anyone.

I think he done well at Ferrari to make them as competitive as they was in a pretty un-competitive car. He was made a bit of a scapegoat.

Not so long ago Ferrari were criticised by some of the design team for being to demanding themselves. Saying the environment is too pressured. Too much depseration and too many deadlines.

Alonso wasn't the problem at Ferrari. It was Ferrari itself.

El Scorchio 5:32 Mon Apr 13
Re: Nico Rosberg
If he wanted to stay, then he'd still be there this season wouldn't he? I think he had a contract for this year. It's not like Raikkonen where they paid him not to drive for them at the end of his first stint with the team. All he cares about is winning at least another title so there's no way he'd give up a competitive drive when he has a contract for one.

I see the logic behind him moving to McLaren to build a car from the start of an engine/constructor partnership. It makes sense and he was well aware of short term pain. I think it's just Ferrari all of a sudden surprising everyone with such ironic timing which is a kick in the teeth for him.

Trevor B 5:10 Mon Apr 13
Re: Nico Rosberg
ES

he didn't walk out on Ferrari, they didn't offer him a new contract. Alonso wanted to stay and even went public a few times season before last about wanting to extend his contract. At his age it was thought within the team that he was winding down and wasn't putting in the effort needed to make them a better team.
